Modern Day Vision Board
A couple of years ago I was in New York, and I walked into one of the many gadget stores they have there. While there I saw the first digital photo frame on display there and thought it was a neat idea. However, it was super expensive and the LCD size was very small so I didn’t get one but I definitely saw the potential of such technology.
Today, you can pickup a digital photo frame for around a hundred dollars and although most people look at it as a fancy way to have pictures of your kids on your desk, I see a lot more potential in these things.
What I see when I see these digital picture frames is a modern day vision board. Instead of having a giant cork-board on your wall with cutout pictures of all the goals and things you would like to have, accomplish, or become, why not use a digital picture frame for that?
You can basically just find, download or create images that you find inspiring or that remind you of your goals and visions in life, and put them on the digital photo frame in a slide show. You can create little graphics for yourself which display your goal for the year like “$_______ in income in 2008” or an affirmation, or pictures of your future car, spouse, house, or what you’re going to transform your body into.
Most of the new frames include a built in memory which allows you to store a few hundred pictures on the frame and some even have a remote control which you can use to turn the slide-show on and off.
Imagine coming into the office and your picture frame is showing a photo of your spouse and kids. You pull out the remote control, click “PLAY” on the slide show and it cycles through a few dozen pictures of your goals for the year. After it’s done, you can put it back on the standard picture of your spouse and kids for the rest of the day, but you have now effectively connected with all of your goals.
You could also have the slide show running all day long and allow it to subconsciously activate your mind to attract the things you want in your slide show. You could even have simple words like “HEALTH” or “PATIENCE” or “PASSION” as the pictures on the frame cycling through each day. Any time you create a new goal for yourself, create a visual representation of it and stick it onto your digital picture frame slide show.
With the Holiday Season coming, they also make a great gift for someone, preloaded with some pictures if you wish. You could even make a picture of a check you write to yourself and put it on there. Regardless of what you put on it, I think these digital picture frames are an awesome visualization tool to help us stay connected to our dreams.
