Two Limiting Beliefs That Are Stopping You
One of the limiting beliefs that a lot of us carry around with us throughout our lives is that there is stuff that we do that we love to do, and then there is stuff that we do in order to make money. Each filed separately in a different drawer in our minds.
The idea of combining the two and actually making money by doing what we love brings up so much subconscious turmoil that our mind would rather vomit than admit the fact that making money doing what we love is not only our birthright but it is also our greatest purpose.
Listen, I don’t care who you are and how much money you’re making in that job you hate, and who you’re supporting and how many mouths you’ve got to feed, you will never be connected to your purpose in life and feel the joy and fulfillment of living with passion until you begin to make money by doing what you love.
I generally find people have strong beliefs that break down into two types of categories when it comes to making money doing what you love. The first belief is:
I don’t know of anything that I love to do that people would actually pay money for.
Are you kidding me? There are a thousand things that you love doing that people would pay money for. Your low self-esteem is just blinding you from the obvious.
Let me give you an example. Let’s say that you know nothing about anything, and you’re not good at anything, and your only source of joy in life is letting your pet iguana out of her cage after you come home from the boring job you hate.
Well, there you go…that’s one thing that you love - Pet Iguanas. Make money with that.
“How?!” I hear you screaming…. “What, am I going to teach my pet iguana circus tricks?”
No, you’ve got to use your imagination. You’ve got to STOP allowing your beliefs stop you from pursuing your dreams.
Melissa Kaplan had a passion for Iguana’s. Was she the world’s leading authority on Pet Iguana’s, certified by the national board of the Iguana Lizard Committee? NO! She just knew more about Iguana’s than someone who just bought one yesterday. What does that make her? It makes her an EXPERT at Iguana’s compared to someone else. So what did she do? She started a website on Iguana’s.
She now runs www.IguanaSecrets.com where she provides both free tips and a paid DVD course on “Iguana Secrets” which you can purchase for $24.95.
Does this mean she is now a retired multi-millionaire because of this? Probably not, but so what - at least she’s making money doing what she loves.
The point here is that if you REALLY put your mind to work on it, there is absolutely no reason why you shouldn’t be able to make money doing something you love. Unless of course you’ve got the second limiting belief stopping you which is:
If I start making money doing what I love, I’ll stop loving what I do because I’ll now only be doing it for money.
Says who?! Have you ever taken something that you absolutely love doing and converted it into a huge money making empire and in the process of rolling in the millions of dollars you’ve realized that what you loved doing has now become “dirty” and you no longer love doing it?
I highly doubt it. If you have, you are very welcome to donate all the excess money you have to me and I will relieve you of this burden at once.
Chances are that you probably never did make any good money doing what you love, but you’ve got this totally ridiculous fear that if you start making money doing what you love, that you will cease to love doing it. That’s a pile of crap. You’re not going to love what you do any less when you’re making money with it, you’re going to be loving it more! Why? Because when you’re making money doing what you love you’ll be sharing your passion with many other people out there instead of hiding your purpose and passion in your basement.
You’ve probably allowed Hollywood storytelling to brainwash you into thinking that making money doing what you love is somehow “dirty” or “unholy” or that it’s the equivalent of “selling out”. Maybe it wasn’t Hollywood for you. Maybe it was some rock band that you heard on stage screaming about never “selling out” to “the man” as you waved your lighter in the air at their “sold out” concert. Wherever it was that you picked up this ridiculous belief, don’t feel bad - it’s a very common limiting belief.
Let me offer you an alternative belief that is much more empowering - It is absolutely, positively possible to make money doing what you love and the better you become at making money doing what you love, the more you’re going to love what you do - not because you’ve “sold out”, but because you’ve realized that the more passionate you become about your purpose and the more you share it with others, the more money is going to flow into your life.
But what about all those people who started out doing something they loved and then when the money started to flow in they started chasing money and stopped doing what they loved, and now they are miserable? Well, they stopped doing what they loved and started chasing money - that’s why they’re miserable. It’s not the money that makes you miserable, it’s making money NOT doing what you love that makes you miserable.
Where to start…
Start small, but start today. Find a way to start making money doing what you love. You don’t have to try to make $4,000/month doing what you love or anything even remotely close to what you may be currently making at your present job. Just start making SOME money doing what you love.
One more thing I want to add. Doing what you love doesn’t necessarily mean doing only ONE thing. When you get a job, you have to focus on one thing. As an Inspired Money Maker, if your passion lies in 30 different things, then learn to make money doing 30 different things. Remember the Iguana lady? She could have that program out there and it can be earning her $2,000 per month and she might have 5 other things she does to make money doing what she loves. You don’t have to limit yourself to doing just one thing.
Maybe you can’t see yourself making enough money doing what you love to replace your current job income. Maybe what you need to do is to do multiple things, not just one. For example if wedding photography is your passion, maybe you can do that in the wedding season and make some money with that, and then when things slow down you can be doing other things. It’s only in a job environment that we have to limit ourselves to doing one thing for one boss at one time. As an inspired money maker, you could be doing a hundred different things at different times.

I pay for many things that I love doing. And I off course never mind. And it is usually taught by people who love doing it.So why would other people not want to pay for the same? As long as you are adding value off course.
To put it differently: I completely agree with your points
