Blog Income Report – May 2008
Well, it’s time once again for my monthly Blog Income Report. I’m super excited to report that I’ve hit another income record for this month. In fact, I’ve made more money with the Blog in the month of May than I have in all the months prior, combined!
Before I jump into the income numbers, let me go through some other exciting things that happened this month at Inspired Money Maker.
The Birth of a Blog Carnival
On May 5th, I launched the very first issue of the “How to Make Money Doing What You Love Carnival“. The first issue of the carnival was very successful, and throughout the month I’ve posted the second, third and fourth issue as well. This week we’ve got even more strong submissions and the next issue is scheduled to be released later on today.
The Launch of a Blog Contest
On May 15th, I launched the very first Inspired Money Maker Blog Contest. There is more than $100 in prizes, a Twist and plenty of Knock-Knock Jokes. For more details on the contest, click here.
StumbleUpon Drops a Bomb on Inspired Money Maker
Just when I thought the month was already looking good in terms of income and traffic, on May 23rd I wrote the article “101 Tips to Help You Make Money Doing What You Love“. Apparently the StumbleUpon community liked the article and brought in over 12,000 visits to it in the first 24hours and over 40,000 visits by May 31st. The page was also Dugg 38 times and linked to from other sites like Del.icio.us.
Considering that for the whole month of April I received about 4,500 Visits, the extra traffic from StumbleUpon this month has increased my traffic numbers TENFOLD!
RSS Subscribers
Another very cool metric I’m super excited about is my RSS Feed count which finally went over 300 this month. Can you spot when StumbleUpon hit my site from this graph?

Other Blog Metrics
As fun as StumbleUpon Bombs can be, the more important metrics I track for myself relate to my posting regularity and comment growth. After all, my goal is to build a community Blog which provides quality content for my readers to help them learn how to make money doing what they love.
Content is one of the most important things a Blog needs. It’s like the heartbeat of a Blog. This month I posted 29 articles, averaging 1250 words per article, and received over 129 comments on the posts. Those are also both records for the Blog. Also, I just checked and this happens to be exactly the 100th post on the Blog.
I also wrote a guest post for MonkeyBlogger.com ( Stand Out by Being a Giver ) and one for TylerCruz.com ( 10 Things I Learned About Blogging from Tyler Cruz ). These are the first two guest posts I’ve ever done, and I must say they are a lot more challenging than I thought. It’s kind of hard to write articles for a different audience than your own. It was a great experience though and I am definitely planning on getting more experience doing this type of thing.
Blog Income Report
OK, now onto the actual income report part.
My total income earned from my Blog for the month of May 2008 is $712.30.
I am super excited about hitting this new record income for the month. The growth in income from last month represents more than a 150% Increase in one month. My goal was to double my income (100% growth), so I blew past my goal by another 50% so I’m super happy with that.
Here’s a breakdown of how the numbers tallied up:
- Direct Ad Sales: $570.00
- Affiliate Commissions: $59.95
- AdSense: $41.72
- Text Link Ads: $33.74
- Kontera: $6.89
- eBook Sales: $0.00
- ReviewMe: $0.00
As you can see there was a major increase in direct ad sales this month. This is something I definitely wanted to focus on this month as I didn’t get enough time in April to dive into that side of the monetization process for my Blog. My efforts this month definitely paid off in that area.
AdSense revenues also increased by about 42% which was pretty cool considering I haven’t really done any major tweaking on that side of things yet as I’m waiting for my new Blog Design to be finished before doing thorough testing. As you can see, Text Link Ads and Kontera earnings also increased for the month. eBook sales were at $0.00 since I’m now giving away the eBook for Free, and I didn’t get any ReviewMe requests in the month of May.
A Few Words of Gratitude
I just want to take a second to thank everyone who is helping to make this Blog a growing success – everyone who reads the Blog, everyone who leaves comments, everyone who gives me the thumbs up on StumbleUpon, everyone who Diggs my articles, everyone who clicks on my ads, everyone who’s sent me encouraging emails, everyone that links to the site, all the advertisers, and even the few people who enjoy sharing their negativity by leaving nasty comments trying to cut me down – I love you all.
Coming Up Next Month
The month of June is going to be the most exciting month to date for Inspired Money Maker. My new Blog Design is almost finished and should be launching the first week of June. I also had a professional Mascot designed for the Blog which is finished and I just love it. I’ll be unveiling it at the same time as my new design goes live so stay tuned for that in June.

I’m Lisa. And I’m also in the beginnings of starting my own website with Blogging as well as whatever I can think of throwing on there. This would be amazing for me to be able to generate some extra income doing something I simply love to do. Do you have any idea’s or tips for another fellow blogger?
Congrats all around on this past months achievements.
That stumbleupon bomb is pretty impressive and had to be a blast
Best of luck for June, perhaps see a new record yet!
Another excellent month Paul – well done. It seems like you’re getting traction now and your subscribership is growing exponentially.
I think you’re posting rate is just about right.

@Lisa Champagne: It seems like your website is broken.
Great new layout looks really clean and professional
@Bart Piotrowski: Thanks! I love it!
A 150% Increase in one month, that was a great achievement.
Stumbleupon traffic is the only good social engine traffic. You RSS subscriber proves that. Digg traffic is the worst to me.
