If You Build It, They Won’t Come
By the time you finish reading this article, you will have learned the real secret why some people make crazy money online while others continue to struggle endlessly to barely scrape by.
At first you’re going to have the urge to skim through this article to try to locate the “secret” in a bullet point or some piece of highlighted text so that you can decide whether or not to bother reading the rest of the article. STOP and ask yourself this question - Can you really afford to miss out on what I’m about to share with you because you were too lazy to actually READ this article? It took almost a decade to get this little “secret” through my thick skull. Save yourself ten years by paying attention.
I’m not going to hide anything from you, I’m going to tell you exactly what the secret is and then I’m going to give you a link to a product which has completely changed the course of my life and brought hope to my online ventures. You don’t need to buy the product to know the secret as that I am going to share with you right now.
First, a little confession. In the offline world, I used to be horrible at sales and marketing. It’s not because I didn’t try to learn how to sell and market myself and my products/services; it’s just that sales doesn’t come naturally to me. I’m one of those “introverted“, “let me be totally honest with you” - type people and I never was very good at trying to sell something to total strangers. Somewhere along the way in my upbringing I developed the limiting belief that selling = boasting, or selling = lying, or selling = coercing.
Of course this is not true. Without sales people and sales processes, the whole world would come to a grinding halt. Logically, I understand this and I accept it. However, in the offline world I have a distinct disadvantage compared to other people who are naturally “extroverted” and have been taught and encouraged to express a “sales-like” personality from childhood.
This doesn’t mean I can’t be successful in the offline world. In fact, I have had a lot of success in the offline world running businesses by simply hiring naturally talented sales people to do my selling for me. This works, but to a limited degree. Yes you can hire sales people and marketing people to market your products and sell them in the marketplace, but they will never have the same passion for your idea or business product / service as you do. Without sales ability, you will always be at the mercy of your sales and marketing team, regardless what kind of product or service you’re selling.
If you’re running a huge, multi-million dollar company this may not be a huge disadvantage because you will most likely have a whole department of people devoted to marketing and selling your products and services, but what if your Inspired Money Maker dreams are based around a smaller business venture as an independent consultant, freelancer or small-business entrepreneur? Your inability to sell could be hurting your chances at success.
Here’s the great news: In a lot of ways, the online world is a great equalizer.
In the online world, “introverted non-sales types” and “extroverted super-sales types” can be equals. However, that is only IF the introverts learn how to properly embrace the concepts of successful online marketing techniques.
Let me be very clear here:
Introverts fail to make money online, because they fail to embrace and learn successful, proven online marketing techniques. They typically do this because much like the offline world, they don’t see the value in marketing. They delude themselves into thinking that “If you build it, they will come.” No, if you build it, but you don’t promote it, market it, and sell it, nobody will come except YOU to see your website sitting idle day after day.

Extroverts fail to make money online, because they fail to embrace and learn successful, proven online marketing techniques as well! They are so used to being able to sell anything to anyone in the offline world, that they typically can’t handle the fact that their time-tested ‘techniques’ from the offline world just simply aren’t working online. Taking a picture of yourself in that custom tailored Italian suit and posting it online isn’t going to make things any better either. Neither is the cologne you’re wearing or the shiny shoes. What matters offline doesn’t necessarily matter online.
Selling and Marketing Online - Two “Secret Powers”
Huge success in the online world is ruled by two “secret powers” anyone (Introvert or Extrovert) can develop:
- The “secret power” of being able to drive targeted traffic to your websites; and
- The “secret power” of being able to get your audience to take some form of action.
Yes you still need to build an online business of some sort, whether it be an affiliate marketing business or a blogging business or an online store of some sort or some form of online community or a membership site, or any one of the thousands of potentially successful online ideas out there. However, all of those ideas are fueled by the two “secret powers” I mentioned above.
You simply MUST learn how to drive targeted traffic to your sites and then be able to get that traffic to take some form of action depending on the type of website you have.
Those two skills should be something you are always working on improving, every day.
I don’t know how many Bloggers I’ve seen start up new Blogs and try to make any kind of money from them without realizing that they not only need to WRITE CONTENT for their Blog, but to also PROMOTE, MARKET and SELL their Blog content to the online audience. You MUST do this if you expect to ever get great results online in any venture.
How I Learned to Apply Proven Online Marketing Techniques
Once I got it through my thick skull that online success is just as dependent on sales and marketing as offline success, I began searching for a way to sell and market my websites. There are two major differences between the online world and the offline world that I observed here:
- In the offline world, you can typically find sales/marketing people for your business at a fairly reasonable price. Also it is far easier and cheaper to hire someone who’s a “natural salesperson” than it is to try to teach someone how to be an effective sales person. That also includes yourself.
- In the online world, a good sales/marketing “guru” who knows how to produce a solid sales/marketing campaign will probably require you to take a second mortgage on your house to pay the bill. That’s the bad news. The good news is that unlike the offline world, online sales / marketing techniques can be taught to anyone (Introvert or Extrovert) and for an investment that’s much cheaper than one months salary of an offline sales rep! This means that it is far more economical for you to become your own “sales and marketing guru” online!
Once I learned this “secret”, I immediately went looking for some of the best resources available online which teach you how to be an awesome sales / marketing “guru” yourself.

I also bough the Hypnotic Marketing Library of CD’s which included a whole bunch of audio’s and bonuses related to Hypnotic Marketing. @Kay: I was asking myself the same question too. I noticed he said July a few times in the sales letter, and June only once at the very bottom so I think the June thing is a typo.

From a business standpoint, I’ve always looked at the Internet as one of the great equalizers for Introverts. In fact I’ve always held the belief that introverts have the upper hand on the Internet, simply because it requires so much time spent alone. I’ve yet to see an extrovert wanting to spend 8 hour days working on the computer because it’s ‘exciting’. :o)
@Rhen: Yes, stereotypically most “computer people” are mostly introverted.
However, don’t be fooled into thinking that just because we can sit at a computer for 8 hours that we can “make things happen”. If we bring our shyness and “introversion” onto the Internet, we’ll have a really hard time making money.
Meaning, in the offline world a sales call might be a phone call. In the online world, a “sales call” might take the form of an email to someone. If you’re too scared to try to email someone, you still won’t “make it”. If you’re too scared to share yourself, your name, your picture, have an opinion, etc. on the Internet, it’s hard to make money as well.
Online “sales” is much different and WAY more fun than offline “sales”. Introverts just have to give it a go and learn it.

@Simon Stapleton: If you don’t end up liking the eBook you can always exercise your right to get a refund. You have a full 365 days to do it.
Don’t make the mistake I made when I first got the eBook and try to “skim” through it to see if it works. A lot of the techniques in the eBook are going to be counter-intuitive to your existing way of thinking. However, that is EXACTLY why they work. The tendency for us is to look at a concept and to try to judge it based on whether or not we THINK it will work. What we THINK works and what ACTUALLY works are two totally different things.
For example, this is on an unrelated topic but have you tried changing the background color of your AdSense ads to “ffffff” and the same for your border color? You could setup two channels and on one channel test your existing AdSense color scheme and on the other channel test the color scheme I suggest and measure your click-through rate. There is a script you can use to randomly display one type of ad and the other.
If you TEST the two different things, you will actually know which works better for your site. The Hypnotic Marketing stuff is like that as well. You have to yank out one or two techniques that resonate with you right now and test them out. Don’t be afraid to experiment. For example, if the Hypnotic Publicity section doesn’t sit well with you yet, don’t worry about it. Work on testing out parts of the Hypnotic Websites or Hypnotic Emails for example.
Try testing out a couple of things on your Blog and let me know how you like it.
