Performancing Ads - New Way to Sell Your 125×125 Ads?
It’s pretty funny because I was thinking about ways to improve my direct advertising income from my Blog in the last few days and today I ran into this new service called Performancing Ads. Basically it’s a place where you sign up and create a profile for your Blog and you setup a region on your Blog where you sell 125×125 banner spots.
Think of the service as being similar to Text-Link-Ads except instead of selling text links, this site sells your 125×125 banner spots. Currently I use OIOPublisher to administer and sell my 125×125 banner spots but I decided to try out Performancing Ads because they provide you with a marketplace to sell your ad space.
It’s completely free to sign up for the service and they give you complete control over how many ads you want to place on your site (you specify the number of rows and columns) and you set the price per week for the ads. I’ve also been thinking of setting a budget aside to purchase some advertising for my site, so I’ll probably just use their service to do that as well. They allow you to book ads on a weekly basis which will give me the ability to test out more Blogs out there to see what works best for me.
I don’t have too much more to say about the service as I just installed it right now, but if you have a Blog where you’ve got 125×125 banner spots that are sitting empty, it might be a good idea to get setup with Performancing Ads and see if you can start getting paid for that space.

Hi Paul
I am a new blogger and your blog is the first one I subscribed to. I continue to learn and be inspired. Thanks for the insight on this adveritising option. My blog doesn’t have any traffic yet so I don’t think I’m ready for ads but how many subscribers or page views were you getting before you started going after ad revenue?
Thanks again for an EXCELLENT blog!
T
I’ll be interested to hear how well it goes for you.
@T Edwards: If your intention is to put ads on your site eventually, why not put them on there right away. Who cares how much traffic you’re getting? Even if you put AdSense ads on your site to start with and only earn $0.11 in the first month from that, at least your Blog made a positive income your first month, which is always better than $0.00.
If you’re worried about turning people off due to the fact that you have advertising on your site, ask yourself what your “perfect visitor profile” is, and decide whether you want to attract people who get offended by Ads on your site, or if you’d rather attract people who are OK with ads because they know that there’s nothing wrong with making money by doing what you love.
Short answer, I didn’t wait to put advertising on my site. From day one I didn’t care if having ads or affiliate links offended people, because those types of people that get offended are not the type of people I can help with my Blog anyways.
Hey T Edwards! It’s great to see you on here. You have come to the right spot for inspiration and learning.
@Paul - I’m kind of in between with regards to putting ads up right away, or waiting until a traffic goal has been met. I’ve started up several blogs over the last year or so - all in very different ways. Some were started with Adsense ready to go, some without. Some were preloaded with 125’s while others like http://www.theathomecouple.com have no advertising at all - at least not until my traffic, backlinks, and subscribers hit a goal which I’ve set.
Paul is right though T, it really doesn’t matter at the end of the day. If you intention is to put ads on the site eventually, why not put them on right away and filter out the “non-clickers” from the jump off?
My only qualm with services like Performance Ads is that they take a cut from your ad sales as a “finders fee”, which is absolutely fine, and they have the right to, but I would rather keep 100% of the income for myself and go through the hustle and experience finding advertisers for my ad spots and maybe turn my experience into and eBook or email series.
Great post.
I’ve heard a few blogs mention Performance Ads, it seems like a good thing to check out.
