Launched Yet Another Blog

When I was at Blog World last month I picked up Darren Rowse’s book (”ProBlogger – Secrets for Blogging Your Way to a Six-Figure Income“), and I was very thrilled to hear Darren talk about the many Blogs he has run in the last few years.  Prior to reading his book, all I’ve ever heard other Bloggers talk about is how a person should stick to just one Blog and that’s it because there isn’t enough time in the day to run two or more Blogs.  After reading Darren’s book, I have no reservations starting as many Blogs as my heart desires if I feel inspired to do so.

So, this week I’ve been busy launching my newest Blog – AquariumFishWorld.com – which is now well under way, and filling up with content fairly quickly.  The Blog will document my journey of diving into my new found hobby of keeping an aquarium.  I love animals and even though we’ve already got a dog and a cat, last week I decided to get an aquarium and learn all about fish.

My dad has always had fish when I was growing up, and we used to have turtles as well, and my younger brother Bart also has three fish tanks right now with fish and turtles (see his Blog at QshifterHobbies.com for pictures) so it’s not like I’m a total newcomer to aquariums, but this is the first time I’ve gotten my own.

It’s very interesting for me to experience the difference between the different Blogging styles possible out there depending on the type of topic a person covers on their Blog.  I’m really enjoying writing for that Blog right now because I can really just approach the topic from a total beginners point of view and just snap a lot of pictures and share what I’m learning as I’m learning it, in hopes of helping others get inspired and aquainted with the hobby.

This Inspired Money Maker Blog is my “main” Blog and I’m always on the lookout and tuned in to attracting wisdom that will help my readers on their quest to becoming Inspired Money Makers, but the other two smaller Blogs I’m running now (InspiredAffiliate.com and AquariumFishWorld.com) give me a chance to take a break from the more heavy and philosophical topics and just to have fun sharing my daily struggles as a new Affiliate Marketer and Hobby Aquarist.

If you run a personal development Blog or something that’s a bit “heavy” and sometimes feel a bit burned out or lacking in ideas, don’t be afraid to launch some “smaller” Blogs to document a lighter side of your life, as it’s had a great stimulating effect on me and I’m really enjoying it.  I can’t remember the number exactly, but I believe I remember Darren Rowse at ProBlogger.net talking about writing 20-25 articles per day for his numerous Blogs at one time.  Hey, if you’re inspired to do it, why not?  It’s fun!

Here’s a picture of my current starter fish tank:

    Hi Paul,

Great post! I have been thinking hard about creating a second blog. My main concern is that it will take away from my main blog. Any other suggestions you might have on deciding to start more than one blog.

    Thanks,
    Jeremy

@Jeremy Day: Well, it sounds like you’ve already decided! :)

It’s less than $10 to register a domain, so just do it and see how much you like writing for the second Blog. You won’t know until you try. Remember, the posting frequency on your different Blogs can vary. For example, you might want to write once a day for your main Blog, but only once a week for your secondary, or whatever you have time for.

I think it’s better to just do it and see how it goes, than to sit there thinking about it all the time. Darren Rowse is a super successful Blogger and he runs multiple Blogs. His book might be a good place to start if you haven’t read it already.

Hope that helps. If you have a specific question or challenge you see with starting two Blogs, let me know.

Congratulations on the third blog! Running three blogs may seem difficult for many people, but by doing so, you become more selective in what you post, and by being more selective the quality of your posts tend in increase! I wish you the best of luck. I have always been interested in fish as well. My good friend’s dad ran a Chinese restaurant and had some Chinese fish with Chinese writing on embedded into their skin.

Look forward to your future posts,

    -Bud

Awesome, Paul! I’m very excited to hear that you’re officially multi-blogging. I also love the fact that you came up with a unique niche blog! Good luck in your latest adventure in the blogosphere!

    Great post.

I also run 3 blogs, 1 is my personal Internet Marketing blog, and others are associated with my hobbies – mostly outdoor sports.

I think if you really like the topic, and you know something about it, and have interest, then I think you can have as many blogs as you want, if you’re just interested in it.

This is quite a timely post as I am about to launch another blog and considering a 4th after that. It’s good to know that this blog isn’t suffering and your new one is going well (and looking good). How do you split your time between them, do you give each blog an even amount or do they differ based on their importance to you?

@Dot Com Dud: I write for whichever Blog I’m inspired to write for. If it feels right to write for one Blog four times in a row, so be it. I think it’s more important to be inspired to write, than to try to “manage time”. Hope that helps. :)

Paul – that’s awesome! One of my goals for the new year is to expand my network of blogs along side my network of niche sites. I had a fish once, and he committed suicide by leaping out of the bowl when my sister and I were at school.

Needless to say I didn’t get anymore fish after that!
