Getting in Shape Series - Step 1 - No Holds Barred

As we all know, whenever New Year’s hits, a lot of people set their New Year’s resolutions to go to the gym and get in shape and all the fitness clubs are packed for two weeks. Then, after the initial burst of willpower runs out, you can typically see most people quit and give up and by February the fitness clubs are back to the same numbers they were in December.
I have decided to take on a challenge. I have decided to challenge myself to significantly improve my health and fitness levels using every self-development tool, strategy and technique I have learned over the last 10 years to ensure my success.
This will be the first time I work on an area of my life having all these tools at my disposal. All the other areas of my life that I have worked on in the past didn’t have the benefit of the experience I have today, so there was a lot of stumbling and seeking of new techniques, technologies, strategies etc.
This promises to be a very exciting and fun challenge for me. My initial plan of attack is to apply a combination of two very powerful strategies I strongly believe in, which I have used to generate results in my life. The first is an action based strategy, best exemplified by Anthony Robbins and his programs / technologies. His strong A-Type personality is very action oriented and all of his programs focus on getting you to take Purpose Driven Massive Action. The second is a more “spiritual” strategy of applying things like Intention Manifestation and The Law of Attraction to manifest the desired outcome.
Either of these two strategies is powerful enough to have a massive positive effect on the quality of my health, which is why I am so excited to see the potential benefits of applying BOTH!
I began the initial groundwork for this project about a week ago and have been preparing the necessary resources to take this challenge to a level I have never gone before. In the recent years I have moved further towards a more “spiritual” path of addressing my life problems instead of attacking them with massive action, but for this challenge I will be doing both.
For the “action” side of the challenge I have chosen to use the technologies from Anthony Robbins book “Awakening the Giant Within” and more specifically related to health, his multimedia course “The Body You Deserve”. For the “spiritual” side, I will be employing the teachings from the book “Ask and It Is Given” as well as teachings from the movie “The Secret” and the book “The Science of Getting Rich”. I will also be employing the services of a Naturopath to help me understand the specific needs of my body and to help me put together a proper nutritional plan.
As a further way to get even more leverage, I will be immersing myself in the study of health and nutrition as I work to complete my studies for my “Advanced Nutrition” course from Alive Academy, and move into my second course of the curriculum on “Sports Nutrition”.
The wheels have already been set in motion. I have already began doing the 12 day “The Body You Deserve” program and have already began some visualization exercises to attract my future body. By the time January 1st, 2007 rolls around and most people are just starting to think about getting on an exercise plan, I’ll be hitting the ground running (literally).
My next step will be to identify my starting point and do fitness level tests, measuring my starting points for weight, body fat %, etc.
Stay tuned, this should be a fun challenge and I will report what I have learned to help you succeed in your plans to get healthy!
Update: I have converted this into a series of articles. You can read the next step in this series here.
