Nike+ Kicks Ass

Today I added in an exercise routine into my 98% Diet and Fitness Plan. One thing I wanted to share is using the Nike+ system to track your runs. It’s such a cool little toy that I love using. Basically there are three essential components to the Nike+ system:
- A pair of Nike+ ready shoes.
- A Nike+iPod Sport Kit
- An iPod Nano
How it works is you get a pair of Nike+ shoes and inside the left shoe in the middle under the insole where the arch of the foot is there is a spot for a sensor which comes in the Nike+iPod Sport Kit. You place the sensor in your shoe, and you plug in the receiver into your iPod Nano. That’s all there is to it. The iPod will now display a Nike+iPod menu that will allow you to select the type of run you want depending on whether you want to set a goal of a specific time, distance or calories burned. For example you can select a timed run where you want to run for 20m or 30m or 40m etc. You then select the playlist you want to use and you start your workout.
Once you’ve completed your workout, iTunes will then upload your data to the Nike+ website ( http://nikeplus.nike.com ), where you can see a nice graphical representation of your run. It’s a really cool tool to keep you motivated. You can even share your runs on your website by pasting a snippet of code from the Nike site. Here’s an example of mine on the right. Don’t laugh at the stats as it’s my first run in months so I didn’t want to overdo it.
